Somewhere between the third coffee and the first proper break of the day, it becomes clear why people are increasingly choosing to work from Chianti instead of just visiting it. The hills don’t ask for your attention the way a city does — they’re simply there, out the window, while you get through your inbox. And when the laptop finally closes for the day, there’s a fireplace waiting instead of a commute.
This autumn, two of our apartments — Alloro and Pino — are especially well suited to exactly that kind of stay.
A desk with no bad view
Every apartment at Podere L’Aquila has its own private terrace, and Alloro and Pino are no exception. In practice, that means your video calls happen with the Chianti hills behind you rather than a bookshelf, and your lunch break is a two-minute walk from your desk to a table outside. Connectivity runs on Starlink, so a slow rural signal isn’t something you need to plan around — it holds up for calls, uploads, and everything in between.
Built for longer, quieter stays
Autumn here isn’t a single golden week — it stretches. Alloro and Pino both keep their wood-burning fireplaces, which matters more than it sounds once the evenings turn cool: after a day of work, there’s something genuinely restorative about sitting by a real fire instead of scrolling through one more tab. It’s the kind of detail that turns a work trip into something closer to a retreat.
Because both apartments remain open through the quieter part of our season — even once the rest of the property settles into its winter rhythm — they’re a natural choice for anyone thinking beyond a long weekend: two weeks, a month, or longer, without needing to relocate the whole operation for a short getaway.
What a day here actually looks like
There’s no fixed formula, but a pattern tends to emerge for guests who work from here in October and November:
Morning — coffee on the terrace, emails answered while the valley is still in shadow.
Midday — a proper break. A walk down toward the olive groves, or nothing at all.
Afternoon — the calls that need doing, done from wherever the light is best that day.
Evening — laptop closed, fire lit, dinner either in the upper house dining room or at one of the trattorias in Gaiole, fifteen minutes down the hill.
Worth knowing if you’re planning a longer stay
Worth knowing if you’re planning a longer stay
Both apartments sleep up to four, so it works equally well solo, as a couple, or shared between two people who each need their own quiet corner to work from.
Gaiole in Chianti is close enough for a coffee-shop change of scenery without losing half the day to travel.
If your stay overlaps with a video-call-heavy week, let us know in advance — we’re happy to point you toward the spot on the property with the most reliable signal for the hour you need it.
Nobody moves to Tuscany because their inbox will be lighter here. It won’t be. But answering it from a terrace, with nowhere to rush off to afterward, tends to change how the whole day feels.
